| School Age Care Children are discovering all kinds of exciting worlds. That’s why in the YMCA Before & After School Programs, we carefully design every activity to expand their imaginations and encourage lifelong, positive values. Before school care is available from 7:00 am until school begins. After School care begins when the school day ends and runs until 5:30 pm. After-school programs need to be places where children, youth and adults feel safe, understood, respected, and secure. When these basic requirements for healthy living and socializing are missing in a person’s life, learning rarely takes place. Homework support, often requested by parents and encouraged by schools, is an integral part of our after school programs. Program Staff provide a time and place with support to help children complete homework. Young children are fascinated by science and technology, making these popular activities in our programs. Literacy, a core component in YMCA after-school learning, is just one way we can help support your child’s success in school without extending the school day with academic activities. The visual and performing arts are easily integrated into our programs. Children (and staff) are easily attracted to most arts experiences. |
